Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)




To foster better understanding, collaboration, and exchanges between China and other nations, the Chinese Government has established multiple scholarship programs to support international students, teachers, and scholars to study and research in Chinese universities. The China Scholarship Council (CSC), appointed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (MOE), oversees the admission process and administration of these scholarship programs. Currently, there are 289 designated universities in China that provide a diverse range of academic programs in subjects such as science, engineering, medicine, economics, education, and the arts for scholarship recipients at every level.


UIBE CSC Scholarship: The “High Level Postgraduate” (Type B) University Program:
1. Introduction

The “High Level Postgraduate” University Program of the Chinese Government Scholarship adopts the principle of “individual application, college recommendation, expert evaluation, and selective admission” to select international students with excellent academic background, professional ability and future development potential.

2. Recommendation process

*Select excellent candidates for advanced research projects based on academic achievements, comprehensive quality, development potential and other factors and recommend them to the International College. The school will, according to the international student enrollment requirements and specific enrollment regulations, take written tests or interviews to examine the recommended candidates' attitudes towards China, academic performance, scientific research ability, language level, health status and no criminal record.
*Candidates recommended by each college must complete the China Government Award before January 31, 2023.
The application materials must include the pre-admission notice issued by the recommended university or the tutor's acceptance letter.

3. Candidates selection

*The recommended candidates must have passed the examination of the admission qualification of the recommended university, and are intended to enroll new students.
*Select the recommended candidates who use Chinese as the teaching language, and the Chinese level must reach Level 5 of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK 5). Those who have used Chinese as the teaching language to obtain a degree from a Chinese university do not need to provide HSK certificate.
*Candidates recommended by each college must have obtained the pre-admission notice or tutor's acceptance letter issued by the international student admission department of the university, must contain personal information, admission time, professional information and other information necessary for college registration, and must not include the content that has won or promised to win the Chinese government awards.

4. Type, duration and application conditions of subsidy

*Students categories: Master's and Doctoral students.
*Scholarship duration: 2 academic years for master's degree students; 4 academic years for doctoral students. The duration of the subsidy is the length of study determined at the time of admission, including the duration of professional study and Chinese tutoring.

5. Scholarship details

Including tuition, accommodation, living expenses and comprehensive medical insurance.
(1) Full scholarship:
* Tuition fee: including the expenses for the cultivation, management, organization or support of the scholarship students to carry out sports, visits, get-together and other activities. Tuition fees shall be used by the school as a whole.

* Accommodation fee: it refers to the fee for providing free dormitories or providing accommodation subsidies to the Chinese government scholarship students. The accommodation fee shall be used by the school as a whole. For accommodation on campus according to the regulations of the school, the school will provide free dormitories, usually double rooms; With the approval of the school, those who choose to live off campus can receive the accommodation fee issued by the school monthly or quarterly. The criteria are:

Postgraduates (general advanced students): 700 yuan/month
Doctoral students (advanced advanced students): 1000 yuan/month

* Living cost standard:
Postgraduates and general advanced students: 3000 yuan/month
Doctoral and advanced students: 3500 yuan/month
The living expenses are paid by the school on a monthly basis. If the scholarship students arrive at the school for registration before the 15th day (inclusive) of the current month, they will be given a monthly living allowance; If they are registered after the 15th day, they will be given half a month's living expenses; The living expenses of the graduates shall be paid half a month after the graduation date determined by the university; If a scholarship student leaves China for more than 15 days during the semester (except for normal holidays) for personal reasons, his/her living expenses will be suspended during his/her absence from China.

(2) Partial scholarships
It refers to one or several items of the full scholarship.
